In physics, sound is a vibration that propagates as an acoustic wave, through a transmission medium such as a gas, liquid or solid. In human physiology and psychology, sound is the reception of such waves and their perception by the brain

Sound is a powerful tool used throughout history to evoke certain emotions, to shift the energy within spaces, to generate a unifying experience of individual consciousness, to create form, to release stagnant emotions. Sound is physical; based in Science and Spirit, Sound as a healing modality is derived from Physics - and allows for a Vibrational Medicine perspective of Health, Wellness & the make up of reality.

From this lens, we take a step away from the Newtonian perspective of medicine; suggesting the body is a machine functioning separately from itself and others - and into the quantum realm- dealing with a web of interconnectivity from the smallest particles, to the one consciousness we as humans on a collective level create. An advancement into understand our emotions, thoughts, sensations, external stimuli and environments are all interconnected and play an important role in our health - on our holistic health.

Psychoacoustics is the branch of psychophysics involving the scientific study of sound perception and audiology—how we hear and perceive sound.

Vibroacoustics is the felt sound, the ability to feel the vibrations and frequencies permeate through the physical body. 

Sound is a physical thing. It can carry energy. Information. Expression. Emotion. This is a crucial aspect of our every day life, it's largely apart of the reason we have developed into the type of people we are today. The sound waves our parents delivered to us through our youth, the energy behind their sound, the information delivered in their sounds all affected our physiology, personality and belief structures which in turn creates our current realities today. Our teachers - Our lovers - Our internal sounds we make, The lack of sound we have made. These are all factors in which we have developed and shaped our personalities and our upbringing. 

Let's practice this.

Sound can carry energy. Think about our voice, our main channel of communication is sound. We derive so much information from the way in which others speak sound to us. We derive an emotional response to their sound. The intention behind a sentence can completely shift the information we denote from a phrase.

One person can say a phrase in several different ways: Someone repeat this for us in as many ways as you can:

"I just love how you keep this place clean whilst I'm at work" (Sarcastically)

What did we derive from this? What energy did we feel? What emotion did it generate? What physical response did we have to this?

"I just love how you keep this place clean whilst I'm at work" (Genuinely)

What did we derive from this? What energy did we feel? What emotion did it generate? What physical response did we have to this?

The phrase "EUGH" "AHHHH" - let's all together now, go around the circle and make the energy of "AHHH" that comes to mind first.

We will continue to play with this notion as we get more into 'intentionality' and the power of making sound from genuine connection.

Sound waves and Frequencies:

Frequency is measured in hertz (Hz). For sound, this means the number of pressure waves per second that would move past a fixed point. It is also the same as the number of vibrations per second the particles are making as they transmit the sound. A sound of 10Hz means that 10 waves would pass a fixed point in 1 second

The human can hear the frequency range of about 20-20,000hz!

The Lower the frequency, the more grounding, stable, low pulsed sine waves

The Higher the frequency, the faster and shorter the sound waves appear!

Unique frequencies will trigger certain physical, emotional, mental and spiritual responses - when we perceive Sound as a Hierarchy (see more later) we understand specific frequencies generate unique retuning and rebalancing responses. Some healing frequencies include:
